God's Temple Beginning In Genesis, Torah (Moses)  & King Solomon's Sovereign Reign

The Temple of God is a very large topic in the Bible. This study introduces the narrative evidence of describing the Temple of God, beginning with Genesis with Adam & Eve, the temple which Moses was instructed to build, and the temple which was promised to King David and ultimately built during King Solomon's sovereign reign over Israel.

Word Patterns to Recognize Temple Description

The first word pattern we find is the directional coordinates which God the uses to first describe what appears to be a veiled reference to the Temple of God in the Garden of Eden. The east of Eden coordinate is significiant because this word pattern is again mentioned by God the Father in later reference to the coordinate direction of the Temple.

In Genesis 2:8 "And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
In Genesis 3:24 "So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life."

The important concept to remember is that God desires to be with men and dwell with them, as is seen in Revelation 21:3 "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God". God was dwelling with Adam & Eve; and that specific dwelling place was the Temple which God built eastward in Eden, where the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden (Genesis 2:8).

Temple Patterns with Abram

Abram is instructed in Genesis 12:8 to build an alter (tent) tabernacle east of Bethel: "And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west".
